Nora Nanayakkara
I am Member-elected Non Executive Director at Nominet and a Trustee at the Nominet Trust. I provide independent internet consultancy services at www.nanayakkara.co.uk. I speak fluent German, conversational French and Italian and basic Spanish.
I specialize in internet consultancy and have worked in both primary and secondary domain name markets. I offer business development, marketing, strategic and project management services. I have experience of domain name sales/auctions, TLD management, TLD marketing, sunrise mechanisms and IP management. I am especially interested in consulting on new TLD projects and related business activities.
Originally responsible for the launch of Sedo’s UK office in 2007 as a business development director, tasks included sourcing a location and team, leading client acquisitions and the effective implementation of strategy. I have previously held team leadership, domain brokerage and operational roles internationally at Sedo and under my leadership, Sedo UK has successfully brought new products to very competitive markets, increased market share, launched a local presence in 2007 and negotiated a number of strategic partnerships to strengthen Sedo’s brand.
During my time at Sedo, I was also responsible for marketing and communications. I developed and executed successful multi-channel communications and stakeholder education programmes, including media relations and PR.
I was elected a Non Executive Director on the Board of Nominet (the .uk registry) in 2009 for a two year term. I was successfully re-elected in 2011. As part of my work on the Board of Nominet I contribute to the Audit Committee and am Chair of the Nominations Committee. I have also been appointed as a Trustee on the Board of the Nominet Trust, which is a UK registered charity that provides support to organisations working to increase access to the internet, online safety and education.
I enjoy travelling, cooking and reading. I live in Epping Forest with my family.
